                  Maydis leaf blight is also called as southern corn blight. Following are the important identification symptoms of the disease.
1. Disease appears as small and diamond shaped lesions on leaf and as they mature, they elongate.
2. Increase in width of lesions is restricted by the adjacent veins
3. Finally lesions typically assume rectangular appearance.
4. Lesions are reddish brown in colour with dark brown borders.
5. Symptoms may be confined largely to leaves (race O) or may develop on leaves, sheaths, stalks, husks, and cobs.
