  • Obtaining suckers from healthy fields for planting.
  • Clean cultivation and sanitation in the orchard.
  • Avoiding ratooning and changing the field every year.
  • Uprooting and destroying the affected pseudo stem and rhizome in which grubs are present.
  • Give temporary support to the plant.
  • Do not take regular crop in the same field to avoid initial infestation
  • Ensure clean cultivation
  • Removal of pseudostems below ground level
  • Trimming the rhizome
  • Avoid growing Robusta, Karpooruvally, Malbhog, Champa and Adukkar
  • Grow less susceptible varieties like Poovan, Kadali, Kunnan, Poomkalli
